What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at City of North Miami?
The City of North Miami Parks and Recreation Department is looking for responsible individuals to work as lifeguards for our community pool.
The essential job functions include enforcing pool rules/regulations, protecting lives, patrolling and observing the pool area, rescuing swimmers in distress, administering First Aid and/or CPR as needed, and maintaining the cleanliness of the water and facility.
The position is seasonal (maximum 29 hours/week); summer only. Schedule Shifts: Sunday - Saturday / 8:30AM – 7:30PM (hours/shifts) may vary, and will be adjusted based on necessity.
- Must be 15 years old or older at time of application
- Must have knowledge of life saving and first aid methods and techniques
- Must know how to operate modern life saving equipment
- Must have current and valid Lifeguard/First Aid Certificate, and CPR/AED Certificate
- Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate (optional/recommended)
- Under the supervision of the Lead Lifeguard or the Aquatic Specialist, ensure proper pool maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting for the aquatic facilities, pumps, equipment, and hardware

Prior to employment, eligible candidates will be required to pass a Level II background investigation, comprehensive medical examination and drug test.
