What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grants Manager position at City of North Myrtle Beach?
General Statement of Job
Under limited supervision, is responsible for securing and managing grant funding to support community initiatives, infrastructure projects, and municipal programs. Combines strategic planning, project management, and exceptional writing skills to identify funding opportunities, prepare compelling grant proposals, and ensure compliance with funding requirements. Collaborates with various departments to align grant pursuits with the municipality’s goals and priorities. Is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of program activities to funding entities, as required.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Communications or related field
- Six (6) years of experience as a successful grant writer dealing with federal, state, and local grant funding or planning programs
- Proven track record of securing major grants with certifiable references
- Proficiency in grant research databases, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial software
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Communications, or related field
- Experience working within government or non-profit sectors
- Experience developing and managing grant budgets and meeting reporting deadlines
- Experience with awarding sub grant awards to community groups
- The City retains the right to determine equivalencies.
- Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.
Physical Requirements
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
