General Statement of Job
Under close supervision, operates heavy equipment and utilizes various tools associated with the installation and maintenance of water and sewer services, lines, and accessories. Performs daily maintenance of equipment used.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Valid commercial driver's license at hire
- Water Distribution certification
- Wastewater Collection certification
- Class III Asbestos Worker
Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate an automobile, dump truck, vactor truck, dresser loader, crane truck, backhoe, ling belt, trencher, compressor, and numerous small tools and equipment. Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to two hundred pounds.

Program Overview:
Our CDL Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience to individuals pursuing a Commercial Driver's License. Through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-road training, apprentices will gain the skills and knowledge needed to become professional truck drivers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in classroom training at Horry Georgetown Technical College covering CDL regulations, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
- Receive assisted driving on the road with experienced drivers to gain practical driving experience.
- Learn and practice vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures.
- Adhere to company safety policies and DOT regulations.
- Complete all assigned tasks and training modules within the program timeline.

- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and drug test.
