The City of Northglenn is seeking a dedicated Professional Engineer (PE) with a passion for municipal water and wastewater systems to serve as a project manager for capital projects, long range plans, and other infrastructure projects.
HIRING RANGE: $89,051-$106,862/Annually
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a variety of water and wastewater infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. As the City operates a full-service public works department, there will also be a variety of other infrastructure projects in your portfolio. While the primary role of this position will be to work on major utilities infrastructure such as distribution and collection system projects and water and wastewater treatment plant projects, this position may be assigned other infrastructure projects ranging from roadway projects to vertical infrastructure and foundation projects as interest, ability, and capacity allow.

Duties and Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this full-time position include coordination, management and inspection of various types of capital projects and plans. Additional responsibilities include assistance with preparation of the capital improvement projects budget.
Manage and oversee the design, implementation, and operation of municipal water and wastewater projects, including water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and pipeline systems. Oversight of other infrastructure projects.
Lead project planning, design, and construction phases, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal departments to ensure smooth project execution.
Reviews plans and specifications and conducts construction inspections for compliance with pertinent codes.
Reviews pay applications and required back-up support documentation for work performed.
Reviews and provides guidance and coordination for long-range planning projects and other technical planning documents.
Coordinates with other agencies and organizations when needed for permitting, approvals, grant funding, reporting and reviews.
Prepares and reviews operating and capital improvement budgets for assigned sections.
Represents the Public Works Department with other City Departments and may give presentations in public meetings regarding projects.
Prepares written reports and memorandums including City Council agenda memos and staff reports.
Carries out administrative duties as assigned.
Performs other job-related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Five years progressively responsible experience in water and wastewater engineering work, or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Registration with the Colorado State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as a professional engineer (P.E.) is required or be able to obtain a Colorado license within six months of hire as a condition of employment.
Supplemental Information
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as it relates to a wide variety of planning, design and construction projects.
Ability to conduct studies and analysis on various programs to determine recommendations based on the information received.
Thorough understanding of typical codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards related to a wide variety of planning, design and construction.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, orally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to resolve problems, mediate or facilitate cooperation among internal and external parties.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with constituents, supervisors, employees, contractors, state and federal officials, and other people contacted in the course of work.
Working knowledge of AutoDesk Civil 3D or other drafting program and ESRI-ArcMap software strongly preferred.
Ability to learn quickly and to adapt to change.
Ability to utilize appropriate technologies and transfer its usage to relevant areas of work.
Ability to conduct and evaluate engineering and technical studies and analysis on various programs to determine recommendations based on the information received.

DESCRIPTION & BENEFITS
Regular Full-Time
Employee works in a position that is classified as 40 hours per week. Eligible for full benefit package including medical, dental, life and LTD insurance; pension and general leave and optional benefits.
Regular Part-Time 30
Employee works in a position that is classified as 30 hours per week. City pays contribution toward employee only medical and dental insurance. Employee can pay the difference to cover spouse and/or children. Life & LTD insurance coverage is provided. Employee participates in the City's pension plan and the City contributes to the plan. Employee accrues general leave on a pro-rated basis and optional benefits.
Regular Part-Time 20
Employee works in a position that is classified as 20 hours per week but less than 30 hours. City pays contribution toward employee only medical insurance. Employee accrues general leave on a pro-rated basis and the City pays 3.75% toward deferred compensation and optional benefits.
Regular Part-Time
