What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Lifeguard - Full-Time position at City of Northglenn?
The City of Northglenn is seeking two full-time, highly qualified, motivated, and responsible individuals to fill the position of Head Lifeguard.
As part of the Aquatics Management Team and under the supervision and guidance of a Recreation Coordinator, the position is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations, cleaning, and maintenance of the aquatics facilities while leading and guiding aquatics staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors, and cashiers. The Head Lifeguard will also play a key role in ensuring the pools are safe for members and guests. Must be available to work weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Provides leadership and mentorship to the aquatics staff, taking a lead on training staff, managing and overseeing schedules, guard rotations, daily workloads, and staff assignments. Supports daily operations, opening and/or closing the area/facility, completing shift reports, serving as a manager on duty, and responding to staff and public inquiries as they arise. Assists coordinator and supervisor with assigned projects, as needed.
Maintains mechanical and filtration systems to help ensure pools meet local, state, and federal guidelines. Responsible for checking and maintaining proper chemical readings, records, and chemical levels, and pump room operations, making adjustments as deemed necessary. Checks rescue equipment, first aid supplies, daily logs, etc. Replaces any missing items and replenishes items at low stocking levels.
Lifeguards in all necessary capacities, actively monitoring and scanning pool areas. Recognizes and effectively respond to emergency situations, completing appropriate follow-up reports. Teaches swim lessons.

Any combination of experience and education equivalent to the graduation from high school and two years of prior lifeguarding and swim instructor experience with a basic knowledge of pool maintenance. One year of aquatic facility/program supervision, preferred.
Current certification In American Red Cross or equivalent Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certification, preferred.
Must be at least 19 years of age.
Hiring Range-
$20.84-$22.00
MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT USED
Vacuums, mops, brooms, scrubbers, buffers, hand tools, other necessary cleaning and maintenance equipment.
Automated building control systems (lighting, door access, etc.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed primarily indoors in a warm, humid environment. During the summer months, work may be performed outdoors with constant exposure to the sun and natural elements. Employee will be exposed to fumes, odors, chemicals, and other mechanical hazards.
Work requires sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, swimming and use of hands and arms to utilize rescue equipment and various tools. The employee must have the ability to carry, pull, push, or lift to 50 pounds, unassisted, and 100 pounds, assisted.
Selected candidate will be required to complete and pass a background investigation, physical and drug screen. Must have a Driver's License and a good driving record.Salary : $43,347 - $56,347
