POLICE OFFICER (Lateral Applicants) The City of Northglenn Police Department is currently accepting applications for Lateral Police Officer. Salary Range: $77,876/year
There is a $5,000 one-time cash award for POST certified applicants upon successful completion of the FTO program. An additional $5,000 cash award is available upon the successful completion of probationary period (18 months).

Duties and Responsibilities
Officers on patrol perform a variety of essential activities and services that are both proactive and reactive in nature. Some of these include enforcing traffic and criminal laws, apprehending criminals, maintaining order, answering calls for service, conducting investigations, educating the public regarding public safety issues and crime prevention, prepares written reports and field notes of investigations and patrol activities, apprehending criminals and testifying in court.

Colorado Lateral Police Officers: Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a certified police officer working in a patrol capacity by the date of hire, and your peace officer certification must still be active and in good standing with the State of Colorado POST. Laterals from other states – must be currently certified as a police officer in another state with ability to obtain Colorado post certification within state and department deadlines.

The City of Northglenn does not participate in Social Security. Instead, there is a defined contribution pension plan.
The City contributes 8% of salary for all regular full-time employees with less than five (5) years of service; 9% after 5 years of service and 10% after 10 or more years of service; employees contribute 12% of their salary.
Police Officer vesting schedule: 40% at 4 years of service; increases by 20% each year thereafter until fully vested at 7 years of service.
General Leave
The City provides General Leave, which may be used for vacation, sick leave and personal emergencies. A first year officer accrues 240 hours of general leave annually. Holiday time is included in the General Leave hours accrual for shift employees. The City also provides 16 hours of personal leave each year for regular full-time employees.
Employee Assistance Program
The City of Northglenn provides a confidential counseling service through Mines and Associates. Employees and their family members are eligible for up to eight (8) counseling sessions per year/per incident.
The following are optional benefits, 100% employee funded:
Uniform: The department supplies the officer's uniform, boots, vest and equipment to include leather gear, outerwear, handcuffs, and flashlights. Applicants must provide their own Glock 17 handgun. The department, on a periodic schedule, replaces uniforms and equipment based on the "fair wear and tear" policy. All officers receive a monthly cleaning allowance of $32.00. Officers in a plainclothes assignment receive a yearly allowance to purchase clothes.
