HIRING RANGE IS $22.95 TO $26.36 PER HOUR
This is an entry-level manual labor work in the performance of a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks of a physically demanding nature.
An employee in this class performs manual tasks of a routine and repetitive nature that may involve the use of hand and power tools and the operation of light equipment. Work often involves considerable physical exertion under adverse working conditions. An employee in this class may cross train in a number of aspects of municipal services. Work is performed under the direction of a lead worker or supervisor and is reviewed through inspection and upon completion of assignments.
Tasks will vary by specific assignment. (Any one position may not include all the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class.)
Utilities:
Must be able to assist in the following duties:
Installation of new water and wastewater mains; replace obsolete mains; make taps on mains for service connections.
Repair water and wastewater mains, service line breaks under both routine and emergency conditions; checks, repairs and replaces valves.
Assist in video recording (tving) of wastewater lines.
Maintenance and repair of water meters.
Streets:
May assist in the following tasks:
Cut, clean and repair road surfaces using picks, shovels, jackhammer and tractor.
Seal coat, crack seal and perform other street maintenance functions.
Clean and maintain storm drains as needed.
Fabrication of new street signs.
Install and/or repair street signs; install thermal pavement markings; lane stripes street/crosswalks.
Assist street sweeper operator; occasionally finishes sweeping with hand-broom and shovel.
Position Title: Seasonal Specialist - Municipal Services WorkerSanitation
Assists in the collection of trash and recyclable materials on a designated route within the municipality.
General Duties
Operates light equipment such as pickup trucks, high pressure flushers, sewer rodders, air compressors and related equipment and a variety of hand and power tools as instructed, under the direction of a lead worker or supervisor.
Performs basic labor tasks i.e. painting, light demolition, minor repairs of fences etc.
Performs heavy routine labor tasks as necessary.
Places barricades and safety cones as needed to assure safe and efficient traffic flow around job sites; utilizes appropriate traffic signs and/or serves as flag person to channel traffic.
Cleans and replaces parts as instructed.
May cross train with other departments and assist when needed.
May be asked to assist for on call work and/or respond to emergency calls as necessary.
Transport work equipment to and from job sites in a safe manner.
Performs related work as required.
High school graduation or equivalent plus six months experience in manual labor work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledges, abilities and skills:
Must possess, at the time of appointment, and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the State of Colorado and a good driving record.
May need to attend safety classes and follow safety requirements on job sites.
