Description of Work
Position Definition:
The Camp Director- Day Camp for Norwalk Recreation and Parks’ Tiny Tots Summer Play & Learn Camp oversees a dynamic half-day camp program for children ages 4-5 (Pre-Kindergarten). The Camp Director- Day Camp ensures a safe, engaging, and enjoyable camp experience for approximately 60 campers per session and manages a team of approximately 10 staff members.
General Duties:
- Oversee daily camp operations to create a fun, engaging, and safe environment for campers.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
- Supervise camp activities and guide staff in delivering structured programs.
- Actively participate in all camp activities to promote leadership, teamwork, and positive experiences.
- Mentor staff, helping them build counseling and leadership skills.
- Ensure staff are trained in safety and emergency procedures.
- Handle communication with campers, staff, and parents, addressing any issues that arise.
- Assist in the setup, cleanup, and overall organization of the camp.
Supervised By: Reports to Recreation Supervisor.
Note:
- Hours: Available Monday through Friday, June 23 to August 1, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Commitment to attending all required training sessions, including CPR (June 16) and orientation sessions (June 17, 18, 20).
- This position is not eligible for benefits.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development or a similar field, preferred.
- Must have experience working at Play & Learn Camps.
- Experience in leading groups of children.
Special Licenses/Certifications AND/OR Supplemental Information
Certified or able to obtain certification in First Aid, CPR, and Epi-Pen training (training provided).

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
