What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Coordinator - Part Time position at City of Norwalk?
Administers grants, including grant preparation, coordination of reporting, and monitoring activities including oversight of the School Readiness (SR) Grant. Provides staff support to the Norwalk Early Childhood Council (NECC) and its Steering Committee to achieve the goals of the community Early Childhood Action Plan Provides strategic planning for early education and child care programs in Norwalk in collaboration with the NPS Early Childhood Instructional Specialist and School Readiness Program Coordinator.
Serves as primary liaison between the City and various agencies and their staff in matters relating to early childhood programs.
Prepares and submits grants applications and reports, including Quality Enhancement grants.
Responds to requests for information by collecting, analyzing and synthesizing data on Early Childhood issues and writing reports and updates.
Monitors fiscal status of grants and prepares reports. Represents the Mayor and the NECC at regional and State forums and attends statewide meetings; tracks the evolution of programs at the legislative and administrative levels; reports back to the Steering Committee and Council.
Keeps current on related programs and reports to the Steering Committee and NECC on these activities. Responsible to oversee the timely development of the community Early Childhood Action Plan through an open, inclusive process with the NECC and Early Childhood team and community stakeholders.
Assists with the development and implementation of local requests for proposals. Provides early childhood programmatic technical support to sub-grantees by connecting them with available resources.
Works with the Early Childhood Team and local providers not receiving School Readiness funds to develop and implement town-wide quality enhancement plans and projects.
Fosters channels of communication for all early care and education providers in the City.
Promotes quality and best practices in early childhood education. Works with preschool providers to support excellence in curriculum and instruction.
Monitors and supports the progress of providers towards National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to develop, write and submit grants in accordance with State and Federal grant requirements.
Ability to use, analysis and reporting of data to demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of programs for young children.
Ability to engage the community in an urban, diverse setting. Ability to oversee special projects and generate reports.
Ability to relate to colleagues, students, parents, community stakeholders, and the general public. Ability to utilize data to achieve identified outcomes in the social service sector.
Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.Desirable but not required:
