Position Definition:
The Gym Instructor plays a vital role in the success of Norwalk Recreation and Parks’ Summer Play & Learn Camp by implementing a dynamic and engaging sports and fitness program for campers aged 4-12. The Gym Instructor is responsible for designing and leading daily athletic activities that promote physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and self-confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

The Gym Instructor is responsible for designing and leading daily athletic activities that promote physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and self-confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
General Duties:
- Oversee daily camp operations, ensuring a fun, safe, and engaging environment for campers.
- Supervise and guide camp staff, promoting leadership, teamwork, and skill development.
- Communicate effectively with campers, families, and staff.
- Lead sports and recreational activities, serving as a positive role model.
- Ensure safety, teamwork, and camper engagement throughout camp programs.
- Organize special events like camp Olympics and tournaments.
- Maintain and care for sports equipment, ensuring it is in good condition.
- Collaborate with staff to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming camp environment.
Supervised By: Reports to Site Camp Director
Note:
- Hours: Monday through Friday, June 23 to August 1, 2025, from 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM. No days off will be given (except for July 4th holiday).
- Commitment to attending all required training sessions, including CPR (June 16) and orientation sessions (June 17, 18, 20).
- This position is not eligible for benefits.
- Must have a vehicle to travel to a different location once a week in the middle of the

- Must be 19 years of age or older
- The ability to engage in physical activities like running, jumping, and sports, lift up to 25 pounds of equipment, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and demonstrate athletic drills and games with campers.
- Previous experience as an educator, coach, camp counselor, or in early childhood development preferred
- Certified or able to obtain certification in First Aid, CPR, and Epi-Pen training (training provided).
Salary : $19 - $22
