General Description
The Summer Camp S.T.E.M. Specialist is responsible for the general supervision of participants and implementation of S.T.E.M. based summer camp programming. This position is three (3) days per week and will consist of 25 hours per week.Duties & Responsibilities
- Available for the entirety of Summer Camp 6/23/25 – 8/15/25, which includes training. This position also requires pre-camp meetings and extensive planning.
- Must demonstrate effective instruction in a specific discipline including but not limited to science, technology, engineering, and math.
- Enforce rules and maintain a safe environment.
- Create a fun and safe atmosphere with well thought out, planned, organized and age-appropriate activities.
- Supervises program attendees’ participation in activities ensuring that such activities are safe and fun.
- Organize, lead and promote interest in Summer Camp STEM based programming.
- Enforces department rules and policies for the benefit of all participants.
- Performs daily inventory of program supplies inspecting for shortages or damages, and reporting results to camp supervisor for replenishing or repair.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and attitude at all times to demonstrate the importance of customer service.
- Reports inappropriate behavior and incidents to camp supervisors.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training to learn new techniques, program/policy changes and discuss important issues pertaining to programs.
- Adhere to the employee manual to promote consistency in the delivery of program services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Conditions and Equipment: Requires some heavy lifting, working outdoors, sneakers and/or safe footwear required at all times. Staff shirt must be worn on all days at camp.
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge, experience and/or taught science, technology, engineering, and/or math.
- Must be able to give effective directions and supervision of participants.
- Must have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Must demonstrate good decision-making skills.
- Must have a positive personality and the ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity and success.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with children and adults in a mature manner.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
- Must be 18 years or older.
