Reports to: Vine Street Market Coordinator & Assistant Vine Street Market Coordinators
Pay Wage: $15.00/Hour with increases for returning employees season to season.
Description:
The Vine Street Market is seeking multiple individuals to assist with the market on Saturday mornings. Interested candidates must be hard working, outgoing, friendly, self-motivated, enjoy communicating with the public, want to administer educational activities to children, and have a positive attitude. This is a great position for someone interested in being involved in the community and who wants to educate children through agriculture-based activities and support small businesses and local agriculture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Administer Power of Produce (POP) Club children’s activities during the market.
2. Assist in set up and tear down of Vine Street Market tents, equipment, and merchandise.
3. Ensure a welcoming atmosphere for customers and vendors at the Vine Street Market by answering questions, offering friendly customer service, and addressing concerns.
4. Assist with janitorial responsibilities associated with the Vine Street Market. These include but are not limited to taking out trash, mopping, sweeping, disinfecting, cleaning, and restocking restrooms, cleaning windows, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Desire to teach and assist children with weekly activities about agriculture, local food, and farmers markets.
2. Interest in being involved in the O’Fallon community.
3. Must have a positive attitude, hard work ethic, and team player spirit.
4. Ability to remain professional.
5. Effective communication skills.
6. Integrity, honesty, reliability, trustworthiness, and enthusiasm are crucial to this position.
7. The ability to be detail oriented and tidy.
8. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Qualifications and Basic Job Requirements:
1. Must have a valid driver's license.
2. Must be 18 years or older.
3. Must operate with a high level of communication skills and be able to follow instruction.
4. Must be willing to work with children.
5. Must be available a minimum of:
a. Three Saturdays per month from 5:30am until 2:00pm May through October.
b. The second Saturday in December from 12:00pm through 10:00pm.
c. Up to 8 hours of additional training outside of the previously mentioned times will be required.
6. Biweekly Saturdays in March and April will require staffing but with fewer people, availability during these times is beneficial.
7. Must be willing to be trained in driving a pickup truck, utility vehicle, and pickup truck with trailer and utilize these skills after training.
Physical Requirements
1. Able to bend, kneel, shuffle, push, and lift and pull at least 50lbs of product.
2. Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances.
3. Ability to repeatedly climb stairs while carrying items.
