DAY TO DAY AS A CREW LEADER (STREETS)

As a Full-Time Crew Leader (Streets) for the City of O'Fallon, you'll play a critical role in supervising and participating in a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and repairing city streets and related infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include planning and organizing daily work assignments, assessing and completing work orders, and enforcing safe practices to ensure secure work sites. You'll transport equipment and supplies, communicate with residents regarding repairs, and address citizen concerns with professionalism.

Additionally, you will oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of vehicles, equipment, and work areas while operating machinery such as front-end loaders, backhoes, and dump trucks. Evaluating team performance, responding to after-hour emergencies, and assisting other city crews-including during snow removal-will also be key aspects of your role. Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws is crucial, as is knowledge of effective vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance protocols. Strong interpersonal skills are vital for effectively supervising personnel and addressing community concerns. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in preparing accurate and timely reports, along with experience operating various job-related equipment.

A high school diploma or GED is necessary, alongside one to three years of relevant experience that equips you to understand subordinate roles and resolve issues. Lastly, applicants must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license issued by the State of Missouri, ensuring compliance with all vehicle operation regulations.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• Knowledge of the principles and practices used in construction maintenance and repair of streets/sidewalks, storm sewers and facilities.
• Knowledge of relevant local state and federal laws.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of city policies and procedures

• Skill in the completion of accurate and timely reports.
• Skill in the operation of a variety of job-related equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems
• usually associated with one to three years' experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
