The City of O'Fallon, MO is looking to hire a reliable Maintenance Worker I for our Stormwater crew. Our Maintenance Worker I positions earn competitive hourly rates from $24.02 to $36.03 (top of scale). Your first year you can expect to make a starting salary of $24.02 hourly.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MAINTENANCE WORKER I - STORMWATER
As part of our Street Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of the City's storm infrastructure. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, with required shifts during winter street clearing events.
To excel as a Maintenance Worker I with the City of O'Fallon, a strong set of skills and personal attributes is essential. Your problem-solving abilities will be critical in addressing challenges as they arise in the field. Physical stamina and dexterity are required for executing tasks such as repairing storm sewer structures, excavating underground pipes and operating heavy equipment like excavators and backhoes. Depending on the day, the Stormwater Maintenance crew can be found inspecting and cleaning stormwater systems, ensuring their optimal performance, filling sinkholes and inspecting and cleaning high flow areas following rainstorms.
Other responsibilities that are regularly performed in this role include:
- Performing dye tests of storm sewer structures to ensure proper water flow.
- Repairing driveways and yards.
- Cleaning basins and unclogging storm lines.
- Operating a variety of equipment, including excavators, backhoes and other assigned equipment.
We're looking for someone who has knowledge of the maintenance and repair of municipal stormwater systems. This person should be someone who can be relied upon to perform their daily tasks in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather. This person can expect to be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts that requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Requirements include:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) In-house training to obtain your CDL is provided.
