A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MAINTENANCE WORKER II - STREETS
As part of our Street Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of city streets and related infrastructure. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, with required shifts during winter street clearing events.
Other duties and responsibilities include:

Repairing and maintaining City streets, sidewalks, signs and related infrastructure, including repairing damages caused by construction projects or snow removal.
- Operating a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, concrete saws, street sweepers, and chain saws.
- Assisting with concrete removal and repair, including finishing concrete, patching asphalt and repairing sidewalks.
- Setting up safe work zones and transporting equipment and supplies to and from job sites.

Communicating with co-workers on job processes and activities.
- Performing preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
We're looking for someone who has knowledge of basic principles and practices used in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, storm sewers and facilities. This person should be someone who can be relied upon to perform their daily tasks in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather. This person can expect to be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts that requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
