Job Description
This position performs professional-level engineering assignments in design, construction, and land development.
- Prepare plans, specifications and estimates of major capital and private development utilizing application of engineering standards, principles, and methods.
- This includes new construction and improvement projects involving streets, drinking water systems, wastewater, sewage treatment plant, stormwater, and waterfront infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the initial planning of proposed projects; conduct studies and coordinate surveys for design and construction; collect, gather and interpret engineering data for more complex engineering projects.
- Prepare or oversee the design of projects, preparation and review of plans, specifications, contract documents, cost, and quantity estimates (budgets), building and special maintenance projects utilizing professional engineer stamp and seal.
- Manage all aspects of complex projects from inception to conclusion including consultant design or in-house design projects, design conceptual phase, preliminary and final design, construction phase, and project close-out.
Performance Requirements
- Knowledge of modern civil engineering principles and practices used in the design, construction, and inspection requirements and methods, preferably specific to public works projects.
- Skill in performing substantial analysis and interpretation.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand.
