Oakdale is growing - and we are looking for entry level and lateral applicants to join our team. Lateral candidates pay is commensurate with experience, along with increased PTO accruals and an accelerated FTO process.

- The LELS union contract offers senior officer pay after 10 years of service. The senior officer top wages for the current contract are: $57.31 in 2025, $59.03 in 2026, and $60.80 in 2027.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:- Respond to calls for service; handles citizen complaints, problem solving, making custodial arrests, and issuing summons.
- Knowledge of state law and local ordinance.
- Ability to drive and operate emergency vehicles.
- Ability to handle volatile persons, defend self and others, and testify.
- Investigates reports of crime, interview victims, suspects and others involved, collects evidence, packages cases for prosecution.
- Complete paperwork, reports and case management, and training.
- Patrol city streets, neighborhoods, businesses, parks, and conducts traffic enforcement and issues citations.
- Knowledge of city geography.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Associate degree in Law Enforcement/ Criminal Justice
- One (1) year experience in Law Enforcement
- Minnesota Police Officers license
- Valid Drivers License with a driving record that is acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier
- Use of force training
- Police field training
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement/ Criminal Justice
- Two (2) years law enforcement field experience
- BCA certification
Salary : $90,813 - $113,526
