GENERAL SERVICE WORKER
LEISURE SERVICES/PARKS DEPARTMENT
The City of Oakwood is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of General Service Worker in the Leisure Services/Parks Department. This position reports to the City Horticulturist and assists with horticultural activities and general park maintenance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Assist with the general park and greenspace maintenance and repair, which includes planting, pruning, mowing, spraying and plowing.
Ø Maintain park equipment on all public grounds.
Ø Operate and maintain a variety of equipment such as hand tools, backpack blowers, mowers, edger tillers, sprayers, snowplows and backhoes.
Ø Assist in general construction work which includes but is not limited to painting, and carpentry.
Ø Perform manual labor for extended periods.
Ø Performs all other related duties as required and assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø High School Diploma.
Ø Or equivalent combination of education and experience in general gardening and landscaping.
Ø Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or capable of obtaining CDL within 12 months of employment.
COMPENSATION:
The current pay range is $22.45/hour to $32.30/hour depending on qualifications and knowledge, plus an excellent benefits package including but not limited to health and dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and enrollment in the Ohio Public Retirement System (OPERS) pension program.
HIRING PROCESS:
The successful candidate will be required to complete a thorough background process, including a criminal check, human performance evaluation, and drug screen.
