This position is responsible for overseeing the School Crossing Guards and ensuring that all job duties are being fulfilled by all guards and all guards are properly equipped. Team leader is responsible for scheduling and ensuring that all school zones have adequate coverage. This position reports to the Police Chief or Designee.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Supervise, direct and control School Crossing Guards2. Complete employee evaluations3. Handle complaints concerning school crossing guards/interaction with school officials and parents4. Assist School Crossing Guard members as needed5. Operate and maintain a marked City Watch patrol vehicle6. Operate a computer/prepare time sheets for crossing guards bi-weekly7. Performs related work as required8. Training new School Crossing Guards 9: Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned shift.NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms other duties as assigned.Physical Completion of Each Essential Job FunctionSome of the job functions are completed standing and walking. Visually and audibly alert to detect traffic hazards for personal and public safety. Verbally communicates clearly and politely to assist citizens in person and by telephone. Visually and audibly detects hazards for safety concerns. Remains calm in stressful situations involving children and motorists and School Crossing Guards.Work Environment1. Works in a field environment work area 50% of the time 2. Job functions are performed Monday through Friday, but at times require flexibility in work hours. 3. Equipment used consists of a traffic vest; large hand held stop sign and flashlight computer, and radio. Customer ServiceHigh volume of direct public contact is performed in person.Minimum Skills and ExperienceJob requires no previous training. Periodic classes given to enhance job knowledge and skills. High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Reads and writes and follows oral and written instructions.
