What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Mechanic position at City of Ocoee?
Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, this position performs skilled work in maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel driven automobiles, light and heavy duty trucks, buses, tractors, heavy construction vehicles, equipment, pumps, mowers, small engines, etc. The employee of this class performs routine maintenance tasks, mechanical repairs; diagnostic tests, and responds to emergency calls for repairs.The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Florida CDL license Class B is preferred, but not required.
ASE Certification in gasoline engines and automobile breaks, or the ability to acquire within 12 months.Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals for all automotive components.
Basic knowledge of computers.
Highly skilled in use of standard tools, methods, practices, equipment used in automotive industry and mechanical trade.
Knowledge of routine maintenance and repair for gasoline and diesel cars, light & heavy duty trucks, construction vehicles, tractors, buses, equipment, mowers, small engines, etc.
Hands-on knowledge of diagnostic equipment used in automotive repair.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Ability work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
- Performs maintenance tasks including general lubrication, changing engine oil, changing filters, adding or replacing fluids, wipers, engine coolant, batteries, etc.
- Performs safety inspections on all types of vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
- Changes and repairs tires on cars, tractors, buses, light and heavy trucks, construction equipment, movers, trailers, etc.
- Performs diagnostic tests, determines the needed repairs, and recommends a course of action to the Fleet Mechanic.
- Repairs components or replaces various parts for motors, breaks, transmissions, differentials, air conditions & heating system, front and rear axle, etc.
- Responds to emergency calls during business hours for field repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Responds to calls during non-business hours and holidays on a rotating basis as scheduled.
- Performs other assigned duties as required.

Salary : $40,602 - $75,113
