Print Shop Assistant (Part Time)
Department: Purchasing/Mailroom Reports to: Print Shop Supervisor
Summary: Under basic supervision, processes incoming and outgoing City mail, prints City documents; sets-up and operates print shop equipment.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides printing services for City departments; produces brochures, newsletters, reports, forms, and other documents utilizing a variety of printing equipment including printing press, copier, cutter, and folder.
- Receives job order; sets up and operates printing shop equipment; adjusts equipment settings to maximize efficiency; monitors operations to assure printed products meet job specifications and quality standards; cleans equipment and print shop; performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Provides mailing services for City departments; sorting incoming mail into departmental boxes, using folders/inserts to prepare outgoing mail, processing outgoing mail using mail postage machines, processing water bills and past due bills.
- Processes shipping and receiving of packages/letters for UPS, FedEx, USPS and other shipping providers.
- Supports the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: High School Diploma or GED required; AND one year of related work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
- Safety rules and regulations, and safety precautions in a print shop environment
- Equipment and methods used in the production of commercial printing projects.
- Printing equipment and copier maintenance techniques and practices.
Skill in:
- Operating, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing print shop equipment.
- Closely following verbal and written instructions, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
License and certification requirements: A valid Texas State Driver's License is required. Must be able to obtain HIPAA Certification within one month from date of employment.
Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed in a Print Shop; full manual dexterity and visual/hearing acuity is required.
