Department: Traffic Reports to: Traffic Shop Foreman
Summary: Under basic supervision, performs a variety of basic labor tasks to install traffic control signs and paint pavement markings on City streets; operates vehicles, equipment, and tools in compliance with all safety regulations and standard procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Installs traffic control signs and paints pavement markings; follows all safety rules, regulations, and policies for traffic control on the job site; duties will vary according to job assignment.
- Assists in the fabrication of traffic control signs; removes vegetation as needed; maintains and operates vehicles and equipment according to the Traffic Department standards.
- Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
- Supports the departmental operation with regular and timely attendance at work.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Some related outdoor work experience is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of:
- Basic traffic control and safety procedures and regulations
Skill in:
- Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Following standard operating and safety procedures.
- Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
License and certification requirements: A Texas State Driver's License is required.
