Employment Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Starting Pay: $18.52 - $21.30 / hr (15% Range)
Experience Required : One (1) year in water treatment OR a combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties of the job.
Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or G.E.D.
Department: Maintenance Services.
Direct Supervisor: Manager Maintenance Services.
Supervisory Responsibility: Direct (0); Indirect (0)
Primary Work Location: Zoo Setting both indoors and outdoors.
Certification: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and pass a driver’s history check. Valid Class C Water Operator Certificate from the Oklahoma Dept. of Environmental Water Quality.
Other: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, a physical examination, and a drug test. This position works around animals susceptible to specific respiratory diseases, thus is subject to annual tuberculosis testing.
Job Summary: The Water Systems Operator monitors, inspects, and maintains the safety of the Zoo’s water wells.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
- Check, service, and perform maintenance on the water wells.
- Test water samples and adjust CL2 pumps.
- Minor plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.
- Input data in computer for DEQ reports.
- Maintain accurate records for all well information and keep current for state and federal agencies.
- Check and flush fire hydrants.
- Maintain all public water features including splash pads, waterfalls, and fountains.
- Participate in conservation activities to support the Zoo’s mission.
