Recreation Leader - BMX Track

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible work involving a variety of recreation activities at a community center or other recreation facility and adjacent grounds. Assignments may require evening and weekend hours.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assists in carrying out special events and activities.
• Helps coordinate recreation programs for youth, which may include day camps.
• Oversees the use of all equipment and inventory items used in programs.
• Maintains records of specialized classes, attendance records, collects and receipts money for recreation activities.
• May be assigned the responsibility of the organization of teen programs and outings.
• May be assigned the responsibility for the organization of leagues which would include scheduling, hiring of officials, registration, etc.
• Assists in planning of special events.
• Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices used in organizing and directing play and recreation activities.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations governing various competitive athletic games.
• Ability to lead, plan and coordinate various recreational activities, and youth programs.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
• Ability to lead subordinates and volunteers effectively.
• Ability to work effectively with children of all ages.
• Skill in a variety of recreational activities.
• Ability to operate a PC in a networked environment.

Education and Experience

• High school graduation or an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Experience in organized and specialized varied recreational programs.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Must possess and maintain CPR certification.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS

• Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
• Acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Moderate (15 to 44 pounds) lifting and carrying.
• Driving.
• Walking, bending, kneeling, stooping.
• Physical agility.
• Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a network PC.
• Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Works inside in an office environment and outside in a playground environment.

Pay: From $19.19 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
