Essential Functions
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
1. Maintenance Workers I are responsible for basic, general upkeep, repair and/or cleaning in and around city buildings, structures, and property.
2. Assist with maintenance activities performed in Parks.

3. Performing litter removal and janitorial duties.
4. Safely operating mowers, edgers, chainsaws and other associated maintenance equipment may be required. Operating specialized equipment such as tractors, woodchippers, etc., may also be required with proper training.

Typical Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
1. Knowledge of basic building, landscaping or building maintenance techniques.
2. Knowledge of basic safety procedures and precautions.
3. Skill in operating and maintaining small manual/power tools and equipment.
4. Ability to perform strenuous physical activity.
5. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
6. Ability to work as a member of a crew.
7. Ability to respond to community inquiries appropriately.

Experience/Education:
1. One year's general work experience required.
2. Experience in parks and/or facility maintenance preferred.
3. Some positions may require the employee obtain special certification (such as Pesticide Applicators card or CDL) within timelines specified by the State of Washington or the City of Olympia.

Compensation (minimum-maximum):
$54,127.01 - $65,787.90
