Looking for a rewarding job helping to serve the Ontario community? The City of Ontario's Recreation and Community Services Department has an excellent part-time opportunity for highly motivated individuals to provide programming at a city park, community center, or other recreational areas within the City.
The Recreation Leader will be expected to provide customer service, offering information about programs and accepting registrations, as well as handling incoming calls. Other responsibilities for this position may include organizing and leading indoor and outdoor recreational activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and games; setting up and taking down equipment for events and programs; cleaning and maintaining park and facility areas, including trash removal.
The Recreation Leader is a part-time/temporary position, scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week, and is not eligible to participate in the City’s health insurance or retirement plans. Work schedule is determined by availability, operating hours and the incumbent’s skill level in this position.

Recreation & Community Services Department
The City of Ontario's Recreation & Community Services Department provides opportunities for wholesome, year-round public recreational services for every age group in the City of Ontario. The essential functions typically performed by the Recreation Leader include the following:
- Leads and coordinates activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, and special events.
- Organizes and leads activities at a city park, community center, or other recreational areas within the City.
- Oversees the work of volunteers.

- Performs score keeping, officiating, and field maintenance.

Recreation or customer service experience. Volunteer work, internships, involvement in school activities, participation in sports as an athlete or coach, event programming, and other relevant hobbies will be considered.
Desirable
Currently participating as a volunteer with the City of Ontario Teen Action Committee or any equivalent combination of training.

Selected positions may require the employee to obtain a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within a specified time period following their date of hire.

NOTE: All potential hires are required to pass a fingerprint review and pre-employment physical examination, including a tuberculosis (TB) test.
Selected positions may require the employee to obtain a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within a specified time period following their date of hire.
