SUMMARY
Information Technology Administrator in this position is to oversee and maintain all aspects of the City’s computer infrastructure as well as manage all aspects of the programs’ structures and designs for effective use
NATURE OF WORK
The IT Administrators will review the City’s computer systems to ensure that all aspects are operating efficiently. IT Administrators will troubleshoot problems, configure hardware and software, implement back up processes and assess systems for upgrades or replacement. This person is expected to learn emerging technologies and resolve any issues involved in integrating new technologies with existing systems. The IT Administrator is a key technical resource, providing advice, training and technical support for various projects. This position also works closely with the Information Technology Director in evaluating current systems and aligning the City’s objectives with the strategy for technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implantation and development of the City’s information systems and technology goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Prepare and monitor information systems-related budget items as related to staffing, equipment, software licensing/maintenance, materials and supplies. Implement information systems technologies and processes to improve operational efficiency
- Troubleshoot problems, configure hardware and software, implement back up processes and assess systems for upgrades or replacement. Install and manage these systems, conduct updates, create passwords and run check for viruses and spyware.
- Assist and participate in the development of the information systems and technology work plan; assign activities, projects and programs, monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures - both of assigned staff and/or outside consultants.
- Manage the City’s technology infrastructure, including servers, workstations, printers, network equipment, telecommunications equipment and audio-visual equipment
- Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Principles and practices of information systems and technology.
- Ability to assess existing network serves, operating systems and security programs.
- Ability upgrade existing hardware and software programs.

- Some working knowledge of the most current released version or the immediate predecessor of Microsoft Office and related Microsoft Office automation products.
- Some knowledge of Internet browsers.
- Considerable understanding of the inner workings of personal devices, such as desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones.
- Ability to adhere to established standards, and complete projects within stringent time schedules.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, prioritize, and demonstrate excellent follow-through on each task assigned.

- Knowledge in advanced networking including routing, plans, and access control
- Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software, and programming
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technology degree OR
At least five (5) years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
A directly related higher degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for up to five (5) years of experience
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the administration or management of an information systems operation.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid Florida Driver's License
Must be able to successfully complete FDLE fingerprint and background check.
Advanced knowledge of computer systems administration, network infrastructure, and enterprise software administration.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to type 40 wpm
Extensive knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point applications.
Some knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and Access desirable.

General and specific assignments are received as to beats or details and work is normally performed with latitude for the use of independent judgment in the selection of work methods and procedures, subjects to review through analysis of reports, personal inspection, and discussion

Directs and coordinates the work of Police Corporals and Officers; general and specific assignments are received as to details and work is normally performed with latitude for use of independent judgment in the selection of work methods and procedures, subject to review through analysis of reports, personal inspection, and discussion; may be assigned to direct the work of Police Department employees who perform support services and duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
On a continuous basis sit at a desk and/or stand for long periods of time. Frequently required to walk. Frequently required to see, hear, and talk with employees and the public. Frequently required to read and/or present documents, write or use keyboard to communicate through written means, use a calculator to compute figures. On occasion it is requested to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or smell. Intermittently twist and reach office equipment. On occasion it is required to lift or carry weights up to 20 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
