Description Summary
General
The Janitorial Custodian supports the Building Official and City Hall staff by completing tasks necessary to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary building.
Supervision ReceivedThe Janitorial Custodian is responsible to and performs under the general supervision of the Building Official.

- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Strip, seal, finish, and buff floors.
- Shampoo rugs and carpets.
- Dust / clean all surfaces.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Gather and empty trash and recycling.
- Mix water and detergents to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Requisition of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Prepare rooms and facilities for meetings.
- Assist with routine building & grounds maintenance as deemed necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

- Ability to work indoors and outdoors under most conditions.
- Ability to maintain a harmonious working relationship within a small office.
- Good decision-making skills.
- Ability to maintain organized work areas.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees, city officials, and the general public, through written and oral communications.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the care and cleaning of buildings.
- Must have experience with stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet shampooing.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must have a valid Missouri drivers license in good standing.
