What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works I - Transportation Department position at City of Osage Beach?
An entry level position within the Transportation Department performing a wide variety of semi-skilled assignments in maintenance and construction work on street projects and traffic control devices.
The following examples are meant to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive:
- Patch asphalt streets and prepares streets for asphalt; grades gravel streets, shoulders and other street work as necessary.
- Sands, salts, and removes snow from streets and City parking lots when necessary.
- Perform a variety of tasks, including installation of guardrails, concrete pads, conduits, and maintenance and repair tasks involving carpentry, painting, and general electrical work.
- Participate in the installation and maintenance of traffic devices on construction projects.
- Perform storm drainage ditch cleaning and routine maintenance on the same.
- Clean gutters, culverts, and other storm drainage structures.
- May assist in the maintenance and repair of City parks.
- May operate light equipment such as dump trucks, pick-up trucks, and similar equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and service on motor vehicles and equipment.
- Follow daily and weekly work schedules and complete projects in a timely and accurate manner.
- Follow departmental rules, policies and procedures, and assists fellow employees in same.
- Follow rules and policies to be in compliance with safe working practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Possess a valid Missouri Drivers License.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
OR
- Combination of education, training, or experience which would qualify for the position as determined by the City Administrator and Public Works Director.
- Construction equipment, materials, and methods employed in the maintenance and repair of streets and parks.
- Hazards and safety precautions, appropriate to the position.
- Carry out general mechanical tasks.
- Maintain detailed accurate records and reports.
- Operate City vehicles in accordance with state laws and City Policies.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and general public.
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions with limited supervision.
Salary : $37,495 - $54,367
