Job Summary:

The Seasonal Greenskeeper is responsible for routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance. Perform semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and mowers. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Salary:

$14.69 per hour

Schedule:

Hours typically 6:30am-2:30pm or 3:30pm

May include weekends, and hours are generally 40 hours/week

Essential Functions:

May include, but not limited to:

• Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths; edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers
• Sets tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; remove debris; sand divots on tees; and clean flower beds
• Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately
• Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas
• Under the direction of the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, marks course for cart control weekly; moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs; and may mark hazard and drop areas
• Helps in project work; renovating bunkers; grades and prepares soil base and lays sod on all surfaces
• Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on drainage and irrigation systems
• May be asked to operate mowers, tractors, and other light equipment
• Provide professional, punctual and courteous service at all times to visitors of Bailey Ranch Golf Course

• Perform other duties as assigned in a positive manner which supports the vision and strategic objectives of the division/department and the entire organization of the City of Owasso

Minimum Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

• Must be at least 16 years of age with limited tasks
• Six months golf course maintenance experience preferred
• Experience with mowers, walking greens mowers helpful
• Ability to follow written and oral directions
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and withstand harsh weather conditions

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:

Work will be performed mostly outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, hot and cold, and wet and/or humid conditions. The work environment may include exposure to drafts, noise, dust, and grease.

Tasks require ability to lift/push/pull/ and/or move up to 50 pounds with mechanical or manual assistance on a regular basis, and typically involve some combination of walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods of time, balancing, climbing, bending, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, and mental and visual acuity, and may requires use of personal protective equipment.
