WHAT YOU'LL DO:
This position performs a variety of assigned tasks related to the rendering of appropriate paraprofessional services to a variety of Owatonna Housing and Redevelopment Authority programs; makes recommendations on program eligibility; reviews compliance with programs and/or regulations; documents information and recommendations. This position may perform assigned tasks related to administering rental assistance programs, including verifying application information, interviewing/screening applicants, and preparing files to be reviewed by staff; follow written procedures; produce reports as needed, maintains/updates client files, and responds to customer requests for information.
Specifically as a Housing Specialist you will...
1. Assists with monitoring and determining client’s eligibility and needs by reviewing information, referrals, and application for program requirements; conducting interviews, documenting results, and creating case files; performing follow-up duties with clients as necessary to gather additional information.
2. Assists families with necessary forms to obtain assistance.
3. Provides information about available housing programs.
4. Works with numbers and procedures in a dynamic, changing system.
5. Performs office and basic administration duties, such as answering phone calls, monitoring files, data entry, completing records, and retrieving information from files and computer databases.
6. Performs orientations and briefings to potential clients. These can be one-on-one or in larger groups.
7. Assists with inspections as needed.
8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.ABOUT YOU:
A successful candidate will have some or all of the following ...
Associate degree in related field; 3 years of relevant work experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
