Job Summary
The Police Training and Standards Manager will perform a wide variety of management, administration, coordination and oversight of the Ozark Police Department’s training curriculum and standards compliance. The Program Manager will be responsible for the scheduling, archiving, documenting and reporting of all departmental training, both Missouri Peace Officer Standards & Training mandated and organizational job specific curriculum. The Program Manager will be responsible for the Hiring and Pre-Employment processes for prospective Ozark Police employees, both commissioned and non-commissioned. In addition, the Program Manager will be responsible for management, oversight, and administration of the department’s ongoing participation in the Missouri Police Chiefs Charitable Foundation Accreditation Program.
Duties & Responsibilities Training
- Provide professional oversight and administration of all department Missouri Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) mandated training.
- Utilizes various data entry, search and retrieval applications for the tracking of departmental information, training, records and Police Department equipment.
- Maintains records of training received by employees of the Police Department; testifies in court as required pertaining to training records
- Develops applicable training curriculum as needed for the development of Police Department staff.
- Attend and participate in practical training exercises, firearm range training, defensive tactics training, emergency vehicle operation training and other practical curriculum which may be held outdoors, or in a safe environment that is not traditionally used as a classroom.
- Utilize computers to complete reports, assignments, notes, instructional aids, and presentations as required by Missouri POST Commission and internally for training purposes.
- Provide oversight, administration and documentation of the Field Training Program using applicable software applications.
- Provide oversight, administration, coordination and documentation of the Police Department hiring efforts for commissioned and non-commissioned employees.
- Operates police department vehicles (non-emergency operation).
- Use excellent customer service skills, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, peers and all members of the general public.
Department Standards
- Assists with oversight and administration of department participation and compliance with the Missouri Police Chiefs Charitable Foundation Accreditation.
- Utilizes various data entry, search and retrieval applications for the tracking of departmental information, training, records and Police Department equipment.
- Sorts, cross-indexes, and files correspondence, records, reports, and other miscellaneous materials related to departmental standards compliance, according to acceptable organization methods.
- Utilizes appropriate computer applications to track information and/or type letters, forms, reports, spreadsheets and other materials from copy or rough draft to finished product.
- Utilizes appropriate computer applications to track information, data and/or type forms and other materials as required.
- Use excellent customer service skills, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, peers and all members of the general public.
Important Functions
Proficient with the department’s RMS, computer software, including but limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and operates department vehicles as needed. Perform related work as required.
