We are looking for Summer Camp Counselors for The OC Summer Day Camp. Here, the role of the camp counselor to keep our campers safe and healthy, while ensuring that they have one of the most exciting and memorable summers of their childhood. As a Camp Counselor, you’ll be responsible for making sure that they do not get lost or hurt, but also responsible for the planning and implementing of the fun activities that they take part in – games, chaperoning field trips, setting up of equipment, and just being there for them as they go through the challenges of growing up. The job description below is for our Camp Counselor position. Leadership roles are available, and can be discuss in the interview process. The Summer Camp season runs from May 27-August 15, with training on May 18, 19, 20 in the evening. CPR/First Aid certification is required, and training will be provided for this class on a select date by the City of Ozark. This is a position that can work well with summer vacations, and other time off, as notified. This position may be scheduled up to 40 hours on a weekly basis, and is a seasonal position.

Primary Purpose
Job Title: Summer Day Camp Staff Seasonal Full-Time Temporary
Supervisor: Recreation Coordinator/Camp Lead
Provide direct care to children aged K-6 as they participate in the Summer Day Camp program, maintaining the highest level of safety and positive culture. This position can be considered a success if children consider this to be the best summer of their lives.
Essential Functions
· Maintain a positive workplace and camp culture by treating staff, participants, and anyone that they encounter in the course of their work with the utmost respect. Always maintains their personal positive attitude.
· Provide vigilant supervision on field trips to maintain the safety of Campers in our care.
· Be a positive role model to campers and staff in all aspects of their work – set a good example to campers and other staff regarding general camp procedures.
· Engage and participate in programming with the children alongside them, including swimming, hiking, singing, playing, and more.
· Maintain the Camp schedule by keeping the group focused, and the trips on task and on schedule
· Maintain a safe environment for the children by attending scheduled shifts, finding coverage when needed, and being punctual.
· Attend staff meetings and training.
· Responsible for strict adherence to policies and procedures related to safety and other regulations, including confidentiality with respect to other staff, children, and City of Ozark matters.
· Communicate any issues as they arise with the appropriate Camp Lead/Asst Lead, or in their absence, the Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Superintendent.
· All other duties as assigned.
Abilities
· Ability to effectively and safely work with children.
· Positive, upbeat, and dynamic personalities are advantageous.
· Strong communication skills are critical.
Physical Requirements
Performs, bending, sorting, and reaching to both ground level and overhead; must be able to immerse themselves in up to five feet of water as they instruct swimming (can be treading water or standing, based on height); must be able to project their voice in loud environments; must be able to demonstrate appropriate skills.
Miscellaneous Requirements
Subject to the City of Ozark drug and alcohol prevention and abuse ordinances
Must be able to pass a background check with the State of Missouri Family Care and Safety Registry CPR/First Aid completed before the beginning of Summer
