What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at City of Palm Beach Gardens?
This position takes direction from the Chef to prepare and plate food according to the menu and order specifications while maintaining sanitation standards and an organized workstation. This position utilizes kitchen equipment and performs various duties as assigned.

- Set up and stock food prep. stations with all necessary supplies
- Must obtain a ServSafe certification and stay current with recertifications as necessary; complies with all food and beverage regulations.
- Prepare food for service (chopping vegetables, cooking main dishes, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff or as assigned by the Chef
- Reports to, and follows, the Chef’s instructions.
- Maintains a clean and orderly station.
- Cleans/sanitizes all equipment used including, but not limited to, tables, shelves, fryers, sauté burners, ovens, flat-top griddles, refrigeration equipment, etc.
- Stocks inventory appropriately
- Ensures that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Ensures that kitchen operational procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations
- Maintains a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Reports on low inventory levels and supplies needed to perform daily operations
- Performs portion control and minimizes waste to keep costs within forecasted range
- Ensures quality and freshness of ingredients and products
- Ensures products are kept at proper temperatures
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Six (6) months related experience and/or training as a cook; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- ServSafe® Food Handler Certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Valid State of Florida Driver’s License with a good driving record
