The Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo is currently looking for a Camp Lead Teacher to direct it's physics and chemistry camp known as Camp Kinetic.
Camp Logistics:
- Location: Rinconada Girl Scout House (right next to the Junior Museum)
- Dates: June 9th – August 8th
- Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday – Friday
- Ages: 6 – 12 years old
- Capacity: Up to 16 students per week
- Camp Kinetic Director is lead teacher and site director
- Support staff include assistant teacher, camp counselor, and 1-2 teen interns
- Camp and it's staff and support staff are also supported by 1-2 camp leads (JMZ Educators) and the JMZ Education Director.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the curriculum and background content for projects exploring physics, chemistry, engineering and design.
- With support staff, organize and share in the presentation of science content and projects.
- Assume responsibility for the successful facilitation of activities and daily routines, camper safety and well-being, communication with parents, and duties of support staff.
- Ensure smooth communications with camp coordinators and Junior Museum & Zoo education departmental leadership.
Desired Qualifications:
Successful applicants will be a college graduate in one of the sciences, or in education, and have at least 1 year of teaching experience and at least 2 years of experience working with children in an educational setting.
Work Schedule:
Science Camp - Monday through Friday, approximately 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day
Limited Hourly Position: This is an unbenefited position that is limited to working no more than 415 hours per fiscal year.
