This position assists in the maintenance of park grounds, athletic fields, and facilities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Participates in the maintenance of city parks, athletic fields, and related facilities; performs turf management duties; prepares athletic fields for play. Operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, including athletic field condition, backhoe, truck, lawn mower, hedge trimmer, etc. Operates a variety of hand and power tools. Maintains and repairs irrigation systems. Stocks cleaning and bathroom supplies. Opens and closes facilities. Sets up facilities for rental and other events; cleans facilities following events. Inspects and repairs playground equipment. Performs routine maintenance on assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools. Removes litter and debris from playgrounds, parking lots, pavilions, and other park facilities; empties trash receptacles. Cleans and restocks restrooms. Trims, removes and provides care for trees, bushes, and ornamental plants. Performs minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs. Pier Ensures the proper maintenance and repair of pier facilities, portable restroom trailer, equipment, and hardware. Performs related maintenance work, lawn, care, landscaping, and irrigation on site. Maintains inventory of all cleaning supplies and chemicals. Performs carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs as needed. Maintains public volleyball courts. Serves as contact for special events at the City Beach. Works with Carpenters to repair boardwalk and blowout panels at pier. Enforces pier rules and regulations. Performs related duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Parks and Facilities Maintenance Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results. GUIDELINES Guidelines include city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application. COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work consists of related maintenance duties. Inclement weather contributes to the complexity of the work. The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance of city parks and recreation facilities. Successful performance in this position contributes to provision of safe and well-maintained parks for use by the general public. CONTACTS Contacts are typically with coworkers, other city personnel, contractors, vendors, and the general public. Contacts are typically to resolve problems and provide services.
