MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Under guidance and leadership of the Director of Planning and Economic Development. This position performs professional duties for the Building Services Department within the City of Panama City. Our goal is to facilitate smooth and compliant construction processes that adhere to established procedures and ordinances. This is an emergency essential position that requires performance of emergency duties and actions to prepare, repair, and recover the City before, during, and after any adverse storm events (hurricane, tornado, tropical storm, winter storm, ice storm, etc.) or other conditions (natural or manmade).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Providing efficient and reliable administrative and technical support within the Development Services Department.
- Processing applications for building and related permits, schedule, and record building inspections, ensuring clear communication with developers, contractors and the general public on permitting and building issues.
- Receive and verify permits and project applications for plan review and fee determination.
- Issue permit numbers, prepare files, and generate fee receipts.
- Assist citizens and customers of the department in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner through clear oral and written communication.
- Receive and schedule requests for building inspections, coordinating with inspectors and maintaining a daily inspection log and results.
- Provide information to developers, contractors, general public regarding building issues, property information, procedures, ordinances, and inspection results.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
