What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspector IV - Engineering position at City of Pasadena, TX?
Duties: Inspects construction of bridges, water lines, sewer lines, streets, drainage facilities, and other types of construction work for City infrastructure to ensure that procedures and materials comply with construction plans and specifications by performing the following duties. Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts. Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations. Inspects work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications. Prepares samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing, oversees testing labs for samples of compaction, density, and materials testing for quality of workmanship. Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation. Interprets blueprints and specifications for Contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction. Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods. Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports. Computes monthly estimates of work completed and approves payment for contractors. Must be resourceful and self-motivated. Oversees citizens complaints and follows them through until resolved. Reviews and approved fill-permits submitted to Engineering. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and seven to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
