What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscaper II position at City of Pasadena, TX?
Duties: Perform landscape maintenance duties, such as planting, pruning, fertilization and other tasks needed for general care and maintenance of planted areas. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems and other duties as assigned by Landscape Supervisor. May cut and trim areas around trees, buildings, walks, playground equipment, etc. using riding and walk behind mowers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, etc. Will assist in trenching, and installation of irrigation systems. Will plant annual flowerbeds, renovate existing landscaped areas, and perform new landscaping. Maintains and cleans equipment and tools. May work with construction crew constructing hardscaped areas such as walkways, planting beds, retaining walls, fences, etc. Reviews planting plans and provides updates on plant and insect problems. Keep records on man-hour tracking sheets, and routine maintenance in relation to plantings and maintenance. Applies chemicals for weed control, growth regulation, and insect. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. May require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time. Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. Two years of experience in a horticultural field such as landscape installation, grounds maintenance, plant production or pest control. Knowledge of safety equipment and procedures and guidelines. PREFFERED: May be required to obtain Texas license to apply herbicides.
