Duties: Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the duties named under "Essential Duties & Responsibilities". Maintain and verify of financial statements. Prepare and compile financial information. Collects and analyzes financial data such as source documents used for accounting records of initial entry, control accounts, financial reports, and design spreadsheets to capture financial statements. Reconcile accounts, including bank statements. Review department information and accounts for accuracy and preparing journal entries. Analyzes and evaluates accounting problems. Complete special projects as assigned. Reviews, develops, analyzes, and modifies specific accounting procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Interfacing with other city employees and citizens. Assist in preparing yearly audit. Assist in yearly budget. Various monthly and yearly reporting and reconciliations. Performs wide variety of related accounting and administrative tasks such as reviewing service documents for accounting purposes, maintaining ledgers, recording entries, participating in budget process, assisting in the rate setting process, and interacting with vendors. Research and makes corrections to expenditures. Some administrative/clerical duties for the controller.
Qualifications: Minimum Associates degree in Accounting or at least 2 years payroll experience. PREFERRED: Bilingual (English/Spanish).
