Duties Oversees and participates in all phases of clean streets maintenance operations. Responsible for the oversight of Community Service Division and provide direction to workers daily. Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises and reviews the work of staff involved in clean streets operations; interpret and enforce departmental rules, policies, and procedures. Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing clean street services; assists the Clean Streets Manager with the implementation of policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Participates in the selection of staff; provides or coordinates staff training in the use of equipment, procedures and standards; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement disciple procedures. Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are preformed within budget; performs cost control activities; monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, materials, personnel, facilities and time. Oversees and participates in the maintenance and repairs of clean streets machinery and tools; makes recommendations to the Manager on the purchase or equipment replacement. Operates a variety of equipment related to Clean Streets maintenance. Insures production of quality work. Documents and reports employee problems and successes to the Clean Streets Manager; participates in annual performance appraisal evaluations for workers supervised. Demonstrates and effectively communicates the safe operation of equipment and tools to crew. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality work. Other duties as assigned. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. May require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; standing for prolonged periods of time and able to work outside in all types of weather.
