THE ROLE:
As a Court Probation Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring defendant accountability to the court by monitoring compliance with probation conditions, conducting background investigations, and providing timely reports to the judge.
The ideal candidate for this role will have at least one year of experience in probation services or a related criminal justice field, strong caseload management, assessment, and communication skills, and the ability to foster a culture based on integrity and respect. You will collaborate with the Municipal Court, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and treatment providers to monitor offender progress, provide sentencing recommendations, and coordinate rehabilitation or alternative sentencing programs. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.):
- Bachelor's degree with major study in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology or related field.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles of social treatment of offenders and methods of treatment for such problems as drug abuse and alcoholism.
- One (1) year experience in Probation Services or closely related area in criminal justice field, including caseload management, direct client services, and assessment and referral to rehabilitation/alternative sentencing programs.

SAFETY/WORK CONDITIONS:
- ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed in an office environment.
- PHYSICAL: Physical effort is needed to perform some activities of the job. May be required to lift objects, supplies and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- HAZARDS: The work is stressful by the nature of contact with offenders, parties with an interest in the offender’s situation, and continual work with criminal justice/Court-related issues. The employee is required to meet with offenders in person and on the telephone
