The City of Pasco is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to lead the delivery of critical capital projects across the city. The Engineering Division of the City of Pasco has been reorganized into two focus areas:

• Capital Improvement Program Engineering Division (Public Works Department)

• Development Review & Long-Range Planning Engineering Division (Community & Economic Development Department)

This position is within the CIP Division, leading key infrastructure efforts to support the city’s current and future needs.

Located at the intersection of the Columbia, Yakima, and Snake Rivers, Pasco is a gateway to the agriculturally rich Columbia Basin. Essential Functions

• Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, and bid documents for public works construction projects, including streets, utilities, and treatment facilities
• Serve as project engineer and lead consultant selection, contract negotiation, and project delivery from design through construction
• Review project proposals and ensure compliance with City codes, comprehensive plans, and engineering standards
• Lead and supervise engineering staff in technical work, project development, and contract management
• Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules; ensure cost-effective delivery and fiscal responsibility
• Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies on project requirements, reviews, and construction oversight
• Develop and administer grants and funding agreements, ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate reporting
• Evaluate construction progress through site inspections, resolving design issues, and ensuring contract compliance
• Administer consultant agreements and monitor project expenditures and timelines
• Respond to public inquiries and support community engagement efforts related to capital projects
• Participate in interdepartmental and public meetings, making technical presentations as needed
• Stamp and approve engineering documents and specifications as a licensed PE
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible engineering experience (four years at the professional level)
• Valid Washington State driver’s license
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington, or ability to obtain within 6 months

• Medical Insurance: $173.70/month

• Vacation Leave: 12 days in first year

• Sick Leave: 12 days annually

• Holidays: 10 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday

• Retirement: WA State DRS 4% City contribution to 457 Deferred Comp Plan
