Job Description:
This position is responsible for inspecting buildings and facilities to ensure compliance with fire codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of buildings and facilities to identify potential fire hazards
- Investigate complaints of fire/life safety hazards and provide recommendations for corrective action
- Develop and implement public fire safety education programs to promote awareness and prevent fires
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to share resources and expertise
- Maintain accurate records and files on program activities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in fire prevention, inspection, or code enforcement
- Familiarity with local, state, and national fire safety codes and regulations
- Certifications in Fire Inspection IA, IB, IC required; certifications in Fire Inspector 2A, 2B, 2C within two years of appointment
- Valid California Class C driver's license
