Job Description
The City of Patterson is recruiting for a highly skilled Fire Prevention Inspector to perform fire inspection and prevention activities, enforce fire codes and regulations, and ensure public safety. This role requires excellent customer service skills, a strong understanding of fire science principles, and the ability to interact with other city personnel and agencies. Key responsibilities include performing building and structure inspections, conducting plan reviews, investigating complaints, and developing public fire safety education programs. To be successful in this position, candidates must have three years of progressively responsible experience in inspection and enforcement roles within a fire or building department. They must also possess specialized training equivalent to an Associate's Degree in fire science or a related field and obtain Fire Inspector certifications 2A, 2B, and 2C within two years of appointment. A valid California driver's license is required as a condition of employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be a non-smoker
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized training equivalent to an Associate's Degree with coursework in fire science, construction inspection, code enforcement, or a related field
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience dealing with the public in an inspection and/or enforcement role within a fire or building department
