What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety IT Director position at City Of Pawtucket?
Assists the Director of Public Safety in formulating and implementing policies, procedures, and standards. Implements and manages customer support and technical services support models that address and bring resolution to the technical needs of the Department of Public Safety and City.
Analyzes, develops, and recommends plans and solutions to operational, management, IT process, or Public Safety telecommunications and network operations services including hardware and software activities and associated problems.
Directs the provision of IT support and services, managing the IT department's work teams and units including: Instructional Technology, Help Desk, Computer Labs, Media and Audio-Visual, Server and Network Administration, and Communication services.
Develop and maintain a budget for the Public Safety Communications and annually submit that budget to the Director of Public Safety.
Maintain Department of Public Safety Communications systems including, but not limited to, telephones, cameras, alarms, access control, computers, servers, networks, and radio systems, and insure continuous operation of those systems. Provide backup plans and procedures.
· Coordinates reviews and analyzes requests for proposals ensuring compliance within technical specifications.
Provide training to Fire and Police personnel in operation of radio equipment and computer equipment.
Maintain and insure operation of the Departments Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management Systems.
Supervise all personnel assigned to Public Safety Communications.
Insure the proper training and supervision of the Dispatchers.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for Dispatch operations to insure the safety of Fire and Police personnel and the public it serves.
Performing all related duties as required by the Director of Public Safety, Chief of Police or their designee.
Must pass a Comprehensive Police Background investigation successfully to be hired for this position.
