We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant School Crossing Guard to ensure the safety of students and pedestrians at designated crosswalks. This role is essential in maintaining a secure environment during school hours, guiding children safely across streets, and promoting traffic safety awareness within the community. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a commitment to public safety.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control traffic flow at designated crossing points during school hours.
- Assist students in safely crossing streets while adhering to traffic signals and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and drivers to ensure understanding of safety protocols.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to appropriate authorities promptly.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter unsafe driving behaviors in school zones.
- Educate students about pedestrian safety and traffic rules as needed.
- Records license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and reports infractions to police
Requirements
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and drivers.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in potentially stressful situations.
- Commitment to ensuring the safety of all pedestrians, particularly children.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, especially a proven ability to supervise children.
