The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Quarter Master and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Fire department. The Quarter Master earns a competitive salary of $22.25 - $24.09 /hour based on qualifications.

Under the direction of the Logistics Supervisor the desired candidate would fill one of two Quartermaster positions that handle all the logistical needs of the Pearland Fire Department. Fleet, facilities, gear, uniforms, medical supplies and firefighting equipment are all examples of the responsibilities shared by the Quartermasters. Experience in the fire service with a working knowledge of fire and EMS equipment is a plus!

Minimum Education And Experience
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Requires two years of logistics, data entry or closely related experience.
- Knowledge/Skills/Ability in NFPA 10, 17, 232, 1801, 1851, 1852, 1858, 1911, 1912, 1931, 1932, 1936, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1971, 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1989 or ability to obtain/learn within one (1) year.
- Experience working for a paramilitary organization is a plus.
- Valid Class B Texas Driver's License, or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days.
- NIMS 300, 400 preferred.
- Ability to read and write the English language.
- Ability to operate a City vehicle for business use.
- Ability to perform minor repairs of equipment, such as replacing flashlight bulbs, batteries, etc.
- Ability to perform minor repairs to the building, such as touching up paint, changing out locks, etc.
- Ability to learn and comprehend how ambulance electrical systems function and general principals of hydraulic pumps.
- Ability to climb a ladder, crawl in tight spaces and access other difficult areas to ensure maintenance of building and equipment.
- Ability to clean and maintain office equipment.
- Ability to identify and correct potential safety hazards within offices and stations, vehicles and other areas of concern.
- Ability to inventory and track large volumes of supplies and equipment.
- Ability to organize work and storage areas.
- Ability to learn and comprehend how wireless modems, and other Fire Department IT equipment works.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with outside contractors, sales personnel, co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to work with outside vendors, for example uniform sales personnel, fire extinguisher repair personnel, vehicle mechanics, government contractors, generator repair personnel and exterminators.
- Ability to analyze past expenditures, expected needs and future cost projections in order to develop detailed input into equipment budget development.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Outlook e-mail systems, Word and basic computer operation skills.
- Knowledge of basic safety standards within a work environment.
- Knowledge of requisitions, purchase orders and general purchase contracts.
- Skills in general "handyman" type activities.
- Willingness to adapt to a changing environment and conform to the needs of the department.
