A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A PART-TIME WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR
Job Summary
The purpose of this class within the organization is to teach and enable someone to swim, clean the pool facility, ensure the safety of rescue equipment and pool chemistry, and to provide first aid as needed.
This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Essential Functions
- Instruct participants in swimming and provide safety precaution information.
- Teaches all aspects of swimming including basic survival skills to coaching competitive swim teams.
- Checks pool chemicals.
- Cleans and maintains pool and facilities.
- Sets up for swim meets and rentals.
- Focuses on different skills and techniques.
- Supervises patrons use of the pool and pool equipment, and responds to emergencies and general first aid needs to ensure patron safety.
- Performs related work as assigned.

Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Entry level education for this position does not require completion of high school.
- No prior experience is required.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
