The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Office Assistant - Fire to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Fire department.
The Senior Office Assistant - Fire earns a competitive hourly salary of $18.31- $19.82 / hour, based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SENIOR OFFICE ASSISTANT - FIRE
Job Summary
The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform clerical duties for an office or department within the City of Pearland.
This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Essential Functions
- Provides customer service; greets visitors; answers telephone, directs calls, and takes messages.
- Maintains and updates filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems, either manually or using a computer.
- Communicates with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminates or explains information, and addresses complaints.
- Prepares and sends correspondence; updates phone numbers and addresses.
- Maintains calendars; coordinates meetings and appointments.
- Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail and packages, answers correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
- Processes invoices; processes cash, checks, and money orders.
- Inventories, orders and replenishes office supplies.
- Performs related work as assigned.
